Marker

A marker is a permanent object designating a final resting place. It is typically made of stone or metal. It may be any range of sizes.

A marker may be inscribed directly or may have a name plaque affixed.

A marker for a grave may be called a "head stone" or a "grave stone". (Early American graves often also included a "foot stone".)

A marker for a columbarium is a face plate. A marker for a mausoleum is a shutter.
