Architarium Awarded Brick Presbyterian Church Columbarium Project – Architarium is honored to be working with the historic Brick Presbyterian Church in New York City as it creates a memorial space for its community.
NYC, NY (February 25, 2011) – Brick Presbyterian Church on Park Avenue in New York City is building a memorial space for its congregation. The church has historic roots, dating back to 1768 when First Presbyterian church built its "New Church" from brick. As the church states, "A church is also not simply the sum of its history; rather, it is a present and living reality." Accordingly, Brick Presbyterian Church has decided to add a death care ministry to address the final phase of life.
Paul Pinigis of Architarium notes "Real estate is scarce and at a premium in large cities like New York City. A columbarium allows individuals to be buried within the city where they have lived their lives." This columbarium will allow double inurnment with 8 x 8 x 16 inch niches.
The memorial space will feature a columbarium manufactured by Architarium of Austin, Texas. It will be inside the church, with its own separate space. The columbarium will feature Pierre Beige marble face plates which will complement the other architectural details of the memorial space. The area was designed by Lydon Associates, which also was responsible for a major renovation in the early 2000s, contributing to the impeccable architecture of Brick Presbyterian Church.
