The flat border is the most common choice for a cast plaque. The width of flat border face should be made proportional to the size of the plaque. We also produce fancier border styles.
Colors
Cast plaques typically have the recessed areas filled with one or more paint colors. It is possible to order an unfinished plaque. Black is the most common color, with brown being the second most common. We offer a variety of additional colors. Natural finishes include a verdigris patina and a brown oxidization. PMS matches are also available.
Design
You can provide a layout or we can do it for you - free of charge. Be aware that some designs cast better than others.
Hardware
Cast plaques can have hidden or visible hardware. Rosettes (decorative cast pieces) are available to cover visible screw heads.
Images
Cast plaques can accomodate most line art, such as logos or seals. In addition, it is possible to include the likeness of an individual. Bas relief is a sculpted 3-dimensional cast image.
Mounting
The two basic types of surface mount options use either screw holes or hidden studs (aka. "blind mount"). Decorative rosettes are available to cover screw heads.
Shape
Although most plaques are rectangular, a cast plaque can have curved edges as well as asymmetric shape.
Relief
Plaques can be cast with the artwork recessed or the background recessed. The latter is by far most common. Plaques with recessed backgrounds have a leatherette texture.
Texture
A "leatherette" background is most common, although other textures are available.
Thickness
Typical thickness for a plaque is 3/8 inch. Some variations in plaque thickness can be accomodated.
