Installation and Maintenance

Architarium»Cast Plaque Installation and Maintenance

Installation

A cast plaque can be mounted to many kinds of surfaces. The surface will determine the proper hardware. The two basic types of surface mount options are with visible screws or with hidden studs. Decorative rosettes are available to cover screw heads.

Alternately, a cast plaque can be mounted to a metal pole with a special bracket.

Although cast plaques are simple to install, we can provide a template upon request and always provide free phone support.

For information during installation on how to protect your cast bronze plaque from weather and theft, please contact us.

Maintenance
To remove any debris, simply use water on the cast plaque and dry it off. Never use cleansers on bronze. You can use a sander (fine-to-medium grit) or even Scotch-brite® to remove the oxidization. Be sure not to leave any finger prints (oils).

Then you can finish with a urethane finish. You may want to use several coats. Be sure to remove all sanding residue prior to spraying (ex. with a brush).

Note that cast plaques that are horizontal to the ground will tarnish more quickly because rain water pools in them.
